“The opposite of play is not work – the opposite of play is depression.”

- Dr. Stuart Brown

Admit it, you think that play is a waste of time – something reserved for children or irresponsible adults. You have no time to play. You have work deadlines to meet, a household to run and a never-ending list of tasks to check off.

In Gifts of Imperfection, Brenè Brown points out the danger of our cultural messaging that exhaustion is admirable and self-worth is tied to productivity. With this kind of thinking, it’s no wonder that we don’t take time to rest and have some fun!

Many of us feel weighed down by the demands and responsibilities of our life that fun has taken a back seat. And yet, play is proven to boost our well-being. In fact, it’s as important as rest – another endangered concept today.

In this retreat, Maddy and Kelley will serve as your guides to help you connect with your unabashed, joyful childlike self. You’ll be warmly welcomed into an intimate group of women, take adventurous hikes, play in a mountain creek, flow on your yoga mat, enjoy delicious food and soul stirring conversations.

At the end of the retreat, you’ll be better acquainted with who you are underneath all the roles and responsibilities you hold. You’ll feel rested and restored to your natural balanced state.

FAQ

Q: If I book with a friend, does that reduce the ticket price?

A: Booking with a friend does not reduce the price because each ticket is per person and includes accommodations, meals, activities, etc.

Q: What’s the difference between the tiny cabins and the creekside cabins?

A: The creekside cabins are more spacious and have a kitchenette w/ cooktop, refrigerator, coffee maker, heat and A/C as well as a bathroom and shower. The tiny cabins are equipped with a mini fridge, coffee maker and heat and A/C. There is no running water or bathroom facilities in the tiny cabins, however, the community barn (with bathrooms and showers) is less than 100ft. away.

Q: What fitness level do I need to have?

A: For the hikes, if you can walk on uneven terrain for 3-5 miles, going at your own pace, with pauses for rest and water, you’ll be fine! The yoga is beginner friendly, slow flow style and modifications can be done as your body needs.

Q: It’s just me, will that be awkward?

A: Not at all! We are all about solo travel and know how to create a welcoming experience for all! We will pair you with another solo traveler for your overnight accommodation, and you’ll have a new buddy!

Q: Do you have any single occupancy options?

A: No, sorry. At this time, we do not have any single occupancy accommodations. Check back on a future retreat as they sometimes are available.

Q: I’m coming with a friend, can we request shared accommodation?

A: Yes, and we will do our very best to arrange that. After registering, email Kelley at coach@kelleydoyle.com with your request. We cannot guarantee it and will notify you if we cannot accommodate the request.

Q: What meals are included? And, can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

A: This retreat will includes 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 3 dinners. If we know about your dietary restrictions in advance we can provide menu alternate options. In your pre-retreat questionnaire we ask about food allergies and dietary restrictions. This feedback will help us customize all meals on retreat. In addition, you have the option to bring your own snacks and specialty food and store them in either your cabin or the community barn kitchen.

Q: I'm flying in. What's the closest airport?

A: Asheville airport is closest - 37 miles away and less than an hour drive. Charlotte airport is 103 miles away and a two hour drive (without traffic).

Q: What should I bring?

A: You will receive a packing list ahead of retreat with everything you need to bring.

Q: What is the age range of women attending this retreat?

A: We have an 18+ age requirement. Outside of that, we find that our retreats bring together a diverse group of like-minded women. It's less about age and more about mindset. The women who come on retreat with us vary in age, but all have in common a desire to step away from their busy lives, slow down, and reconnect with their true selves.

Q: What if I need to cancel?

A: The $500 deposit is non-refundable. Full balance is due and automatically processed 60 days prior to the retreat. Cancellations must be made 3 business days prior to final payment. For the July retreat final payment is made on May 26, 2024. We aim to give our retreat participants an enjoyable and memorable, life-changing experience you will not want to miss! While not required, we strongly recommend travel insurance to protect your investment in case of unforeseen circumstances.
