“Journal writing is a voyage to the interior.”

- Christina Baldwin

There are so many reasons to write in a personal journal, but perhaps the most important is to know oneself. According to research by Dr. Fred Luskin at Stanford University, we have an average of 60,000 thoughts per day – and 90% of them are repetitive. That is a lot of mental clutter! Aren’t you curious about what is beyond this first layer of mental noise? Journal writing gives you access to the unexplored landscape of one’s inner world. A way to discover the real you underneath all the superficial swirling thoughts. A consistent journal writing practice has practical benefits, too. It helps with achieving goals, enhancing critical thinking, inspiring creativity, and improving mental health. In this retreat, Maddy and Kelley will serve as your guides to help you approach the blank page with purpose and invite your authentic, inner voice to surface. Journaling practices will include individual writing and shared group reflection. You’ll be warmly welcomed into an intimate group of women, take adventurous hikes, flow on your yoga mat, and enjoy delicious food and soul stirring conversations. At the end of the retreat, you will have the framework and strategies to continue your journal writing journey into greater self-discovery and ultimately an intimate friendship with your mind, heart and soul.

FAQ

Q: If I book with a friend, does that reduce the ticket price?

A: Booking with a friend does not reduce the price because tickets include accommodations, meals, activities, etc.

Q: What’s the difference between the tiny cabins and the creekside cabins?

A: The creekside cabins are more spacious and have a kitchenette w/ cooktop, refrigerator, coffee maker, heat and A/C as well as a bathroom and shower. The tiny cabins are equipped with a mini fridge, coffee maker and heat and A/C. There is no running water or bathroom facilities in the tiny cabins, however, the community barn (with bathrooms and showers) is less than 100ft. away.

Q: What fitness level do I need to have?

A: For the hikes, if you can walk on uneven terrain for 3-5 miles, going at your own pace, with pauses for rest and water, you’ll be fine! The yoga is beginner friendly, slow flow style and modifications can be done as your body needs.

Q: It’s just me, will that be awkward?

A: Not at all! We are all about solo travel and know how to create a welcoming experience for all! We will pair you with another solo traveler for your overnight accommodation, and you’ll have a new buddy!

Q: Do you have any single occupancy options?

A: Yes! We have 4 single occupancy spots available on this retreat.

Q: I’m coming with a friend, can we request shared accommodation?

A: Yes, and we will do our very best to arrange that. After registering, email Kelley at coach@kelleydoyle.com with your request. We cannot guarantee it and will notify you if we cannot accommodate the request.

Q: What meals are included? And, can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

A: This retreat will includes 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 dinners. If we know about your dietary restrictions in advance we can provide menu alternate options. In your pre-retreat questionnaire we ask about food allergies and dietary restrictions. This feedback will help us customize all meals on retreat. In addition, you have the option to bring your own snacks and specialty food and store them in either your cabin or the community barn kitchen.

Q: I'm flying in. What's the closest airport?

A: Asheville airport is closest - 37 miles away and less than an hour drive. Charlotte airport is 103 miles away and a two hour drive (without traffic).

Q: What should I bring?

A: You will receive a packing list ahead of retreat with everything you need to bring.

Q: What is the age range of women attending this retreat?

A: We have an 18+ age requirement. Outside of that, we find that our retreats bring together a diverse group of like-minded women. It's less about age and more about mindset. The women who come on retreat with us vary in age, but all have in common a desire to step away from their busy lives, slow down, and reconnect with their true selves.

Q: What if I need to cancel?

A: The retreat tickets are non-refundable. We aim to give our retreat participants an enjoyable and memorable, life-changing experience you will not want to miss! While not required, we strongly recommend travel insurance to protect your investment in case of unforeseen circumstances.
